Share Extension

Send content to Gisti from any app's Share menu.

Gisti appears in the macOS Share menu. Select text in Safari, a photo in Preview, a file in Finder, then Share → Gisti, and it becomes an element in the Stream.

What it accepts

  • Text and web selections (the source URL is kept).
  • Images: OCR runs on arrival, like any captured image.
  • Files: a shared file is only accepted if it’s an image (saved as an image with OCR) or a text-conforming file (saved as text). Other binaries (PDFs, archives, audio/video, etc.) are not supported and are rejected. There is no generic file-reference type.

Enabling

macOS usually enables new share extensions automatically. If Gisti is not in the Share menu:

  1. Open the Share menu → Edit Extensions… (or System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Sharing).
  2. Enable Gisti.
